1985 BMW K100 Cafe Racer at No Reserve

This 1985 BMW K100 was acquired as a project in 2025 by the seller who subsequently rebuilt it as a cafe racer with work that included repainting the fuel tank, modifying the frame, powder-coating the wheels, engine covers, and frame, and fitting a custom solo seat, clip-on handlebars, a Koso multifunction gauge, an LED headlight, and stainless-steel braided brake hoses. Power is from a liquid-cooled 987cc horizontal inline-four linked to a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft. This K100 cafe racer is now offered at no reserve with removed parts, photos taken during the build,  a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The fuel tank was painted black with red and blue stripes while the frame was modified and powder-coated black. Equipment includes a belly pan, a solo seat, a right-side side stand, and an LED headlight with built-in turn signals.

The 18″ front and 17″ rear three-spoke alloy wheels were powder-coated black and wrapped with Metzler tires. Suspension consists of a rebuilt conventional fork as well as a monoshock secured to the Monolever single-sided swingarm, which doubles as the driveshaft enclosure. The dual front disc brakes feature perforated rotors, while the single rear disc brake is equipped with a solid rotor.

Clip-on handlebars mounted above the top triple clamp frame a Koso 10k-rpm analog tachometer with a digital readout for speed and mileage. A photo showing the removed gauge cluster with 37k miles on the odometer can be viewed in the gallery. The bike has been ridden about 170 miles since completion of the build.

The liquid-cooled 987cc horizontal inline-four features dual overhead camshafts and Bosch LE-Jetronic fuel injection for a factory-rated output of 90 horsepower and 63 lb-ft of torque. The engine covers were powder-coated and a custom four-into-one exhaust system was fabricated during the build, and the gaskets, spark plugs, and rear main seal were replaced. The battery was replaced in August 2026 and the engine and transmission oils were changed.

Power is sent to the rear wheel via a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft.
