This 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe coupe was purchased by the seller’s late husband in 2002, and a custom build completed in 2016 involved custom bodywork including a chopped top, shaved bumpers, a smoothed valance and rear roll pan, frenched taillights, and PT Cruiser headlights faired into the front fenders. Power is provided by a supercharged 350ci V8 linked to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a 9″ rear end, and it features a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an MSD ignition control module, an aluminum radiator, and a dual exhaust system with coated headers and Flowmaster mufflers. Inside, the low-back front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in red and white leather and accompanied by a center console, a Hurst shifter, air conditioning, a digital stereo unit, and a machine-turned dash panel housing AutoMeter gauges. The chassis features a Mustang II-style front suspension setup, rack-and-pinion steering, front disc brakes, and 15″ Cragar S/S wheels wrapped in staggered BFGoodrich tires. This custom Chevrolet coupe is now offered with a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name.

The build involved chopping the top and shaving the bumpers before applying metallic red paint with custom pinstriping. The car was nosed and decked, PT Cruiser-sourced headlights are faired into the front fenders, and aftermarket taillights are frenched into the quarter panels. Additional details include fiberglass rear fenders, a frenched license-plate mount, faux side-exhaust pipes, and a smoothed front valance and rear roll pan.

The car rides on a Mustang II-style front suspension setup along with rear leaf springs, and it features power rack-and-pinion steering along with front disc brakes. The chrome-finished 15″ Cragar S/S wheels are wrapped in big-and-little BFGoodrich radial tires.

The cabin houses dual low-back bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in red and white leather along with coordinated door panels. Appointments include a center console, a Hurst shifter, cup holders, aftermarket air conditioning, and a digital stereo linked to speakers in the door panels and rear trim panels.

The trunk is trimmed with coordinated white and red trim panels and red carpeting.

A white-rimmed, three-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column, and a machine-turned dash panel houses AutoMeter gauges consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, fuel level, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer indicates 6k miles have been added since the 2016 build.

The 350ci V8 is topped with a Weiand supercharger and dual Demon four-barrel carburetors along with a Hilborn-style aluminum scoop. Additional equipment includes an MSD ignition control module, finned valve covers, and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 9″ rear end. Coated headers feed into a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers, and a remote transmission cooler and electric fan are mounted aft of the rear axle.
