Although reserved for only iPhones 16 and later, 25W is now the de facto speed for magnetic power banks. There are still plenty of excellent 15W wireless portable chargers but if you can upgrade to 25W it’ll mean faster wireless charging when you do trade up to a newer iPhone if you haven’t already.

The Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro is a solid 10000mAh magnetic wireless portable charger with a built-in kickstand and what Anker calls an “ultra-wide air inlet” that’s larger than I’ve seen previously on any power bank. Behind the air inlet’s dual air channels is an active cooling fan.

25W wireless charging creates a lot of heat that can force an iPhone into a self-safety mode that throttles the amount of power going into it or even stops it altogether. That’s why cooling is so important with this level of charger power.

In our tests, the MagGo 2 Pro charged an iPhone 16 Pro to 50% in 30 minutes with active cooling enabled, compared to 33 minutes in Silent Mode. It also delivered 199% total charge in our capacity test, comfortably beating the 174% average for 10K power banks we’ve tested.

What is the exact battery capacity of the Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro?

Although we’ve seen some larger, 10000mAh (10K milliamp hours) is the largest battery size that you can clamp to the back of your MagSafe iPhone without it being too cumbersome to pocket or just fall off through its own bulk. Smaller pockets will appreciate a smaller 5000mAh (5K) power bank. Read reviews of all the best magnetic power banks we have tested, both 5K and 10K.

While it’s industry standard to talk of “5K” and “10K” power banks, it should be noted that not all in each of these broad categories have exactly the same actual capacity. To be more precise you need to look at the battery capacity in watt hours (Wh) rather than milliamp hours (mAh). The Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro’s 39.2Wh is higher than the average 10K battery capacity of 38.2Wh.

How fast is the Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro?

For wireless power output the MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro is rated at the top 25W, using the fastest Qi2.2 technology. Only the iPhone 16 series and later can take all 25W of this power output, with older iPhones pegged back at 15W (still much faster than the 7.5W still offered by some battery packs). Note that the 17e is also limited to 15W, and the iPhone Air to 20W. If you own the iPhone 16e you’re out of luck as that curiously doesn’t support MagSafe charging.

In our tests the Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro recharged our test iPhone 16 Pro to 50% in 30 minutes, which is what we’d expect from a 25W charger, and much faster than the average 45 minutes it would take with a 15W wireless charger. It rates as a couple of minutes faster than the average, although environmental factors have a large impact—mainly from heat. Later, we’ll look at how Anker’s smart fan impacts charging times.

The MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro’s sole USB-C port is rated at 45W so will charge your iPhone much faster than wireless if you need to power up as quickly as possible, but you’ll need to bring a USB-C cable as it doesn’t come with its own built-in as you find on some power banks. In the box there is a separate 1ft (0.3m) USB-C to USB-C cable (plus a soft storage pouch) but it isn’t integrated into the portable charger.

45W USB-C, also found on the Ugreen MagFlow Pro and Baseus PicoGo AM52, is the fastest we’ve seen on a magnetic power bank. Previously, we’d have said this was overkill for an iPhone but Apple now states that the iPhone 17 series can wired-charge up to 50% charge in 20 minutes using a 40W charger, and only 15 minutes using a 60W charger for the latest iPhone 18 Pro.

It’s also a handy power delivery if you are charging an iPad and even a MacBook Neo or Air.

Input: When recharging the power bank itself, the power input is 45W—one of the fastest you’ll find on any magnetic wireless power bank range. That should mean that you can recharge the power bank to 80% in less than an hour—handy for those times you’ve forgotten to charge the power bank before heading out.

Is active cooling better than passive?

25W delivers nearly 70% more power than legacy 15W charging, which can lead to thermal buildup that triggers speed throttling and even impact long‑term battery health.

The Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro has two charging modes, which you activate with the charging button while looking at the display.

Silent Mode is without the fan on, and Cool Mode is with the fan working. The ultra-wide air inlet no doubt allows for some passive cooling, and we achieved a 50% charge in 33 minutes compared to the faster 30 minutes with the fan on. Depending on the heat you are charging in, this difference may be extended in your circumstances.

While it will charge your iPhone faster in Cool mode, the MagGo 2 Pro’s fan is audible close up. We’ve heard louder fans on power banks, such as the Ugreen MagFlow Pro Magnetic Power Bank, and if it’s placed a short distance away from you it shouldn’t disturb you, but you wouldn’t want it purring away on your nightstand while you try to sleep—although you won’t need the speedier charging if doing it overnight anyway.

How well does the Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro’s battery perform?

At Macworld we produce a battery performance report for all the power banks that pass through our labs.

We simply drain an iPhone’s battery to 0%, connect the power bank and see how many times it can recharge the phone from the moment the Apple logo shows up. A 10K power bank will be able to do this more than once before being completely drained itself, so we wait till the phone has run out again and repeat until the power bank is empty.

The best score we have got from a 10000mAh (10K) power bank is 207% (the 25W Ugreen MagFlow Pro), with an average score across all 10K portable chargers of 174%. The Anker MagGo 2 Pro scored an impressive and well-above-average 199%—not far off the Ugreen, and again environmental factors can impact performance.

What’s special about the MagGo 2 Pro’s design?

The MagGo 2 Pro isn’t the slimmest 10K power bank we’ve tested. That honor goes to Kuxiu S4 25W Semi-Solid Wireless 10K Power Bank at just 0.53 inches (13.7mm) thick. The Anker power bank is noticeably chunkier at 0.7 inches (17.8mm) but it’s not semi-solid-state like the S4.

It’s a little shorter but deeper than the 10K Ugreen MagFlow Pro, which measures 4.3 x 2.8 x 0.63 inches (108 x 71 x 16mm), but fractionally lighter at 220g vs 235g, although that extra is the Ugreen’s integrated USB-C cable—a feature lacking from the Anker.

It does have a sturdy kickstand with 0-80° adjustment, as does the Kuxiu S4 but not the Ugreen. This means you can prop your iPhone up either vertically or horizontally for easy viewing or StandBy Mode when charging.

The Anker MagGo 2 Pro has an informative digital display on one side, showing you how much power remains in the power bank as a precise percentage rather than the standard power bank four tiny LEDs. You can tap through six screens to check charging status, battery level, battery health, and temperature, or quickly switch Silent and Cool charging modes and wireless charging on or off. Anker has made the display larger than most other power bank makers so it is clear and easy to read, as well as operate.

In terms of colors, the Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro is available in four: Burgundy Red to match the newest iPhone color, Polar Night Blue for Glacier, plus Starlight Silver and Phantom Gray for the Silver and Black iPhones.

Of course, the Anker MagGo 2 Pro works with older iPhones, too: any model after iPhone 12 except the poor MagSafe-less 16e.
