1979 Mercedes-Benz 300D

This 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300D was purchased by the seller on BaT in October 2020, and work completed since then has included resealing the four-speed automatic transmission, adjusting the valves, and replacing the tires, tie rods, fuel injectors, valve cover gasket, fuel tank hoses, fuel filter, and more. Finished in black over Bamboo MB-Tex upholstery, the car is powered by a 3.0-liter diesel inline-five paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 14″ wheels with color-matching covers, cruise control, a stereo, and R134a-based air conditioning. This W123 300D shows 38k miles and is offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in black and is equipped with yellow-tinted fog lights, a driver-side mirror, a power antenna, and bright trim. Close-up photographs of the exterior finish and trim are shown in the gallery below.

The 14″ wheels feature color-matching covers and are mounted with Pirelli tires. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at each corner. The brake master cylinder, steering damper, center link, and tie rods were replaced under current ownership.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in Bamboo MB-Tex, and Coco floor mats line the footwells and trunk compartment. Interior equipment includes power windows, cruise control, and R134a-based air conditioning. The vent actuator, cruise control, and heater servo unit were serviced, and the left front window regulator, right rear window regulator, and left rear door striker were replaced under current ownership.

Instrumentation consists of a 115-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 38k miles, approximately 12k of which were added under current ownership.

The 3.0-liter OM617 diesel inline-five was factory rated at 77 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. Under current ownership, the valves were adjusted, and the fuel injectors, valve cover gasket, fuel tank hoses, fuel filter, vacuum pump gasket, hood insulation, and air filter were replaced.

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission, which was resealed in 2026, at which time the shifter bushings were replaced, and the differential fluid was changed.
