1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa 6-Speed

This 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa was purchased in 2007 by the current owner who has since added approximately 30k of the 59k miles shown. Power is provided by a 3.6-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential, and it is finished in Black over Black leather. Equipment includes the Motor Sound Package, an aftermarket rear wing, 17″ two-piece Targa wheels, a power-operated glass roof panel, power-adjustable seats, a Cassette stereo, cruise control, and air conditioning. The car has been serviced by the selling dealer for the last 20 years, and recent service has included replacing the valve cover gaskets in July 2025 and changing the oil in preparation for the sale. This 993 Targa is now offered on dealer consignment with a Porsche Production Specifications sheet, the results of an August 2026 PPI, the owner’s manual, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a Virginia title.

The 993 Targa was based on the convertible bodyshell and featured a revised roof with a lifting and sliding glass center section as opposed to the removable top found on earlier 911 Targa models. This example is finished in Black (L741) and was fitted with an aftermarket rear wing. Additional features include headlight washers, fog lights, power-adjustable mirrors, and stainless-steel exhaust outlets. An August 2026 inspection noted scratches on the underside of the front bumper, rock chips, paint damage on the right rear fender, cracking stone guards, and a crack in the windshield. Close-up photos of the paint and trim condition are viewable in the gallery below.

Targa-specific two-piece 17″ Speedline wheels show wear and are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. Braking is handled by Porsche-branded calipers over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners.

The power-adjustable front seats have been reupholstered in Black leather and are complemented by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include a Becker Porsche Cassette stereo, cruise control, and air conditioning. An inspection in August 2026 noted the shift knob was loose, aftermarket speakers had been installed, and that the hood and trunk struts were not working, and the seller notes the driver’s door check pops when it opens and closes.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, a 180-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 59k miles, approximately 30k of which were added under current ownership.

The air-cooled 3.6L M64 flat-six features a VarioRam intake system and was factory rated at 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The car is equipped with the optional Motor Sound Package, which added a revised intake and mufflers. Both valve covers were replaced in July 2025 and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle.

The Porsche Production Specifications sheet shows factory colors, equipment, and a production completion date of August 1996.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.

The Virginia title lists “Actual” under the odometer brand section.
