This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa was purchased new by Fred Opert, former race car driver and owner of Fred Opert Racing of Ramsey, New Jersey, the American importer of DP Motorsports, and was subsequently modified with DP Motorsport 935 slant-nose bodywork and 16″ BBS RS wheels. The car is powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six paired with a G50 five-speed manual transaxle, and it is finished in Guards Red over black leather. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, a rear spoiler, front sport seats, an Alpine CD stereo, cruise control, and air conditioning. This Carrera Targa was acquired by the current owner in 2024 and is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, in North Carolina with a clean Carfax report and a South Carolina title.

Design + Plastic (DP) Motorsport was founded in the early 1960s by Ekkehard Zimmermann and later teamed with Kremer Racing to develop a series of successful competition Porsches, including the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning Kremer K3. The US-spec DP 935 I conversion kit included flat-front vented fenders with pop-up headlights, a 930S-style bumper with integrated fog lamps, side strakes, revised skirts, and flared rear fenders. Ducts for the front oil cooler and brakes were also included along with front and rear spoilers and dual side mirrors.

This example came finished from the factory in Guards Red and also features a revised Targa roof bar and a black removable targa roof panel. The seller notes various cracks in the fiberglass.

The 16″ BBS RS wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich G-force Sport tires measuring 225/50 up front and 255/50 out back. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs.

The cabin features front sport seats with power height adjustments upholstered in black leather. Amenities include a heated driver’s seat, an Alpine CD stereo, ADS speakers, a K40 alarm, an aftermarket shift knob, cruise control, air conditioning, a heated rear window, and power windows and locks.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,300-rpm redline as well as a DP-branded 200-mph speedometer, a Quarz clock, and gauges for oil level, oil pressure, oil temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 49k miles, approximately 600 of which were added under current ownership.

The 3.2-liter M930/25 flat-six features Bosch Motronic engine management and is linked with a G50 five-speed manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. Work in 2023 consisted of changing the engine and transaxle oil as well as replacement of the spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, oil temperature sensor, and crankshaft position sensor.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.
The South Carolina title carries an “Exempt” vehicle brand.
