LS2-Powered 1970 Pontiac GTO Convertible 5-Speed

This 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible was acquired by the seller after it was offered on BaT in July 2018, and subsequent work included a repaint in “Electron Blue”, fitment of an aftermarket fiberglass front bumper, and installation of Diamond Back redline tires on the Ridler 18″ wheels. Power is supplied by a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 linked with a Tremec TKO five-speed manual transmission and a Moser 12-bolt rear end with a 3.73:1 Truetrac differential, and further equipment includes aftermarket suspension components, exhaust headers, a power-operated white convertible top, a hood-mounted tachometer, and four-wheel disc brakes with Baer front calipers. The cabin is outfitted with white vinyl bucket seats, engine-turned trim, AutoMeter instrumentation, Vintage Air climate control, an Alpine receiver, and a Hurst shifter. This GTO convertible is now offered with a binder of refurbishment photos, a removed Endura front bumper, and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.

The body was stripped to bare metal during the refurbishment under prior ownership, and it was repainted in the C5 Corvette shade of Electron Blue circa 2020, according to the seller. The front Endura bumper was replaced with an aftermarket fiberglass unit. Other equipment includes a power-operated white convertible top with a matching boot cover along with halo-style headlights, chrome-accented dual hood scoops, a hood-mounted tachometer, a rear spoiler, and quad exhaust outlets.

Chrome 18″ Ridler five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 245/40 front and 285/40 rear Diamond Back redline tires that were installed in August 2026, per the seller. The power-assisted four-wheel disc brake setup utilizes Baer front calipers and cross-drilled and slotted rotors. The car is equipped with power steering and suspension components from Hotchkis, Global West, and Bilstein.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in white vinyl and are joined by color-coordinated door panels and a contrasting black dashboard, center console, and carpeting. Appointments include a Hurst floor shifter with a cue-ball knob along with Vintage Air climate control, and an Alpine audio receiver.

An aftermarket steering wheel frames an engine-turned dash panel housing an AutoMeter 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges monitoring fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer displays 9k miles, approximately4k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 6.0-liter LS2 V8 is said to have been sourced from a 2006 Corvette and installed by Street & Performance Inc. of Mena, Arkansas. The air cleaner assembly has custom GTO lettering, and further details consist of a serpentine accessory drive, late-model GTO fuel rail covers, an aluminum radiator, twin electric fans, and a Rick’s stainless-steel fuel tank.

The hydraulic slave cylinder, spacer, and hoses for the Tremec TKO five-speed manual transmission were replaced in June 2002. A Moser 12-bolt rear end is found out back, and it utilizes a 3.73:1 Truetrac differential. Stainless-steel headers are linked to a custom exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers.

Decoding the trim tag reveals the following information:

  • Style: 70-24267 – 1970 GTO convertible
  • Body: PON185441 – Pontiac, Michigan, assembly; body-sequence number
  • Trim: 250 – Blue vinyl
