This 1972 DeTomaso Pantera was built in February 1972 and delivered new to Wilson Motors of Columbia, South Carolina, and was later acquired by the current owner in November 2000. Finished in white with blue stripes, the car rides on 16″ front and 17″ rear Campagnolo-style wheels and is equipped with adjustable coilovers as well as Wilwood disc brakes. Inside, black vinyl–trimmed seats are accompanied by a Lecarra steering wheel and a gated shifter. The 351ci Ford Cleveland V8 is fitted with a Holley Hi-Tek air cleaner and double-pumper carburetor and mated to a five-speed ZF manual transaxle. This Pantera is now offered on behalf of the owner by Collector Car Vault—a BaT Local Partner—with a Deluxe Marti report, over 140 pages of records, a set of 15″ Campagnolo cast magnesium wheels, spare parts, and a clean California title.

The Pantera’s bodywork was designed under the direction of American designer Tom Tjaarda. This example left the factory finished in white and wears blue stripes. A front valance kit was installed in September 2023, and further details include pop-up headlights and quad exhaust outlets along with bright window trim, mirror housings, and bumperettes.

Aftermarket 16″ front and 17″ rear Campagnolo-style wheels are mounted with Dunlop SP Sport 8000 tires measuring 245/45 and 315/35, respectively. The independent suspension features aftermarket adjustable coilovers at all four corners, and stopping power is provided by Wilwood disc brakes.

The bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl, which extends to the dash, door panels, and rear bulkhead. Further appointments include an AM/FM radio, and power windows. The car retains air conditioning equipment, though the compressor has been removed and the system is inoperative.

The four-spoke Lecarra steering wheel is paired with a dogleg-pattern gated shifter and fronts Veglia instrumentation consisting of a 200-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer along with auxiliary gauges for amperage, fuel level, water temperature, and oil pressure stationed in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 20k miles, approximately 12k of which were added under current ownership.

A chassis brace is installed up front along with a laid-down aluminum radiator fitted with dual electric puller fans.

The mid-mounted 351ci Ford Cleveland V8 is equipped with a Holley Hi-Tek air cleaner and double-pumper carburetor along with Ford Racing–branded valve covers. The engine number tag and block stamping are viewable in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transaxle.

The Marti report shows that the car was produced in February 1972 and lists factory equipment and production statistics.

A set of four 15″ Campagnolo cast magnesium wheels mounted with BFGoodrich Euro T/A tires is included in the sale.
