1974 Yamaha TY250 Trials at No Reserve

This 1974 Yamaha TY250A reportedly remained with its original owner, a family friend of the seller, until ownership passed from the owner’s estate to the seller in 2025. Subsequent work included replacing the tires, tubes, fuel lines, petcock, fuel cap, and air filter, along with flushing the gearbox, fork, and Autolube oil injection reservoir. Finished in yellow and white with black accents, the bike is powered by a 246cc two-stroke single paired with a five-speed transmission. Details include a solo seat, a kick starter, a Teikei carburetor, a high-mounted exhaust system, a skid plate, a headlight, a taillight, and a side stand. This TY250 is now offered at no reserve with an owner’s manual, a service manual, a Cycleserve manual, a tool kit, spare parts, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The bodywork is finished in yellow and white with black accents and set over a silver-finished twin-downtube frame. Details include a black vinyl solo seat, a fiberglass skid plate, a headlight with a chrome-finished guard, a taillight, a toolbox under the fuel tank, folding serrated foot pegs, and a side stand. Flaking paint on the front fender is shown in the gallery.

Wire-spoke 21″ front and 18″ rear wheels are laced to drum brake hubs with magnesium brake plates and were mounted with replacement heavy-duty tubes and Pirelli MT43 tires under current ownership. Suspension consists of a conventional fork along with twin chrome shocks mounted to the swingarm. The fork oil was replaced under current ownership.

The chrome handlebar carries black grips, bright levers, light and stop switches, and a bar-mounted mirror.

A Nippon-Seiki 80-mph speedometer is attached to the left fork leg. The four-digit odometer shows 2,500 miles, approximately 13 of which were added under current ownership.

The air-cooled 246cc two-stroke single features a kick starter, Autolube oil injection, a Teikei carburetor, and a through-the-frame high-mount exhaust system with a USFS-approved spark arrestor silencer. Service under current ownership, per the seller, included cleaning the fuel tank, flushing the oil injection reservoir, and replacing the air filter, petcock, fuel lines, and fuel tank cap.

The engine number is shown above, and the frame VIN sequence 434001394 is captured in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission and a drive chain with an upper guard and a lower tensioner. The gearbox oil was changed under current ownership.

An owner’s manual, a service manual, a Cycleserve manual, a tool kit, and spare parts are included in the sale.
