This 1965 Volkswagen Beetle was purchased by the seller in 2014 and underwent a multi-year restoration under current ownership. Finished in Ruby Red over gray upholstery, it is powered by an air-cooled 1,776cc flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a 12-volt electrical system, a single Solex carburetor, dual-port cylinder heads, drum brakes, 15″ steel wheels, a manual sunroof, pop-out rear quarter windows, chrome bumpers, a cabin heater, crank windows, and an AM/FM radio. Service in preparation for the sale consisted of changing the oil, servicing the left-front wheel bearing, and adjusting the carburetor and valve clearances. This Beetle is offered at no reserve by the seller in Texas with in-process restoration photos, spare parts, an EMPI tool kit, and a South Dakota title in the seller’s name.

The body was blasted to bare metal under current ownership before it was refinished in its factory shade of Ruby Red, per the seller. Exterior details include a driver-side mirror, quarter vent windows, polished stainless steel vent shades, a manual sunroof, pop-out rear quarter windows, front and rear gravel guards, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller states that the sunroof requires manual assistance to operate.

Ivory-finished 15″ steel wheels with black centers wear chrome VW-stamped hubcaps and are mounted with Kumho Power Star 758 tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums. The left-front wheel bearing was serviced in preparation for the sale.

The front bucket seats and rear bench were retrimmed under current ownership with fresh horsehair padding and gray vinyl. Salt-and-pepper carpets line the floors, and additional appointments include a cabin heater, a fire extinguisher, a wire-frame cupholder basket, crank windows, and a refurbished Bendix AM/FM radio. The seller tells us that the radio tuner drifts during longer drives.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg crest and frames a 90-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. The replacement five-digit odometer shows 1,200 miles, which is said to represent mileage accumulated since the completion of the build.

The replacement air-cooled 1,776cc flat-four was installed in 2026 and features a 12-volt electrical system, an oil-bath air cleaner, a single Solex downdraft carburetor, and dual-port cylinder heads. Service in preparation for the sale consisted of changing the oil and adjusting the carburetor and valve clearances. The seller notes that the engine tin has been powder-coated gloss black.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The floorpans were replaced during the restoration.

In-process photos of the restoration can be viewed in the gallery.

The seller notes that the reproduction stickers on the rear quarter window are included in the sale and are laminated for reuse.
The current South Dakota title carries an “Exempt” odometer brand.
