1970 Ford Mustang Hardtop 302

This 1970 Ford Mustang hardtop was purchased by the current owner from its original titled owner in 2014 after reportedly sitting in a field for approximately 20 years. The car subsequently underwent a comprehensive mechanical, suspension, body, and interior restoration, with the paint and body completed in 2017 and the mechanical restoration finished in 2020. The 302ci V8 was rebuilt and fitted with an Edelbrock top-end package, and a Ford AOD automatic transmission, 3.55:1 Yukon differential, Borgeson steering, upgraded sway bars, power steering, and Vintage Air were retrofitted. Finished in lime green over black vinyl, the Mustang rides on 15″ American Racing Cragar-style wheels and has earned numerous show awards, including Best Paint in 2024. The seller has added approximately 10k miles since the restoration. This Mustang is now offered with a Deluxe Marti Report, service records, spare parts, a car cover, and a Texas title in the seller’s name.

The car was refinished in Legend Lime, per the seller, with black side stripes and features a front spoiler, dual racing mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. The body and paint work were completed in 2017 after the seller replaced the floorboards and cowl panel and addressed rust and dents throughout the body. Chips from road debris and a scratch on the left sail panel are noted.

The 15″ American Racing Cragar-style wheels are mounted with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires in 2024. Power-assisted front disc brakes were specified from the factory, and the front discs and rear drums were overhauled in 2014. A Borgeson steering upgrade was completed in 2025, and thicker 1″ front and rear sway bars are fitted, as well as subframe connectors.

The restoration included a new black interior, Procar front seats with adjustable backs, an aftermarket floor console with storage and cupholders, and a Bluetooth-capable stereo. Vintage Air was installed in place of the inoperative factory air-conditioning system.

The original steering column and steering wheel are retained. The steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles; the seller states that the replacement odometer was installed after the original 43,000-mile odometer became inoperative. Approximately 10k miles have been added under current ownership.

The 302ci V8 was rebuilt during the restoration and is equipped with an Edelbrock E-Street top-end package, forged pistons, Doug Thorley short-tube headers, and an Edelbrock carburetor installed in 2026. Records indicate engine machining and short-block assembly work in December 2016. The seller reports regular oil and filter changes, most recently in March 2026.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt Ford AOD automatic transmission installed in 2022. The original 8″ rear axle is fitted with a 3.55:1 Yukon differential.
