This 1955 Ford Thunderbird was purchased by the seller’s parents from its original owner in 1961, and it remained in the family thereafter. The car was refurbished between 2005 and 2009, when it received the replacement drivetrain, a 12-volt electrical conversion, power steering, front disc brakes, air conditioning, and an interior refresh. It has been modified with a retrofitted 302ci V8 paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission as well as a modern sound system and 15″ alloy wheels. This Thunderbird is now offered with a car cover, spare parts, service records, and a Nevada title in the seller’s name.

According to the seller, the Thunderbird was purchased from its original owner by the seller’s parents in Ohio in 1961. It was relocated to Nevada in 1972 and later fell into disrepair. Between 2005 and 2009, the seller and the seller’s mother completed a refurbishment and modernization so the car could be enjoyed in local car-club events and parades.

The body was finished from the factory in Torch Red (R) and features a removable hardtop. The seller states that the body was stripped during the refurbishment, rust in the lower doors and rocker panels was repaired with replacement sheet metal, and the car was repainted in approximately 2007.

Alloy wheels are mounted with 205/75R15 American Classic whitewall tires. The car has been upgraded with power steering and power-assisted front disc brakes, and the suspension was rebuilt as part of the work.

The seller states that the interior was reupholstered during the refurbishment and that a new wiring harness was installed as part of the 12-volt electrical conversion.

Under-dash air conditioning was added along with a multimedia stereo linked to a 10-disc CD changer and aftermarket speakers. There is a plate included to cover the hole to the right of the stereo.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames an Astra Dial instrument cluster housing a sweeping 150-mph speedometer, a 5k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer indicates under 39k miles, nearly all of which were added by the seller’s family.

The retrofitted 302ci V8 was rebuilt during the 2005–2009 refurbishment and is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor, a polished air cleaner, and polished valve covers. The battery was replaced in preparation for the sale.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch.
