This illuminated Shell logo sign was manufactured by Kolux in May 1972 and features an embossed Lexan face displaying the company’s yellow logo against a red ripple background. The metal enclosure contains LED fixtures that were hardwired to a power source when displayed. The sign measures approximately 73″ wide by 73″ tall by 73″ deep. It is offered by Malamut Auto Museum on behalf of the owner at no reserve in Newbury Park, California.

The Shell “Pecten” logo was trademarked in 1900 and redesigned in 1971 by industrial designer Raymond Loewy. This example features a Lexan panel embossed with the company’s yellow “Pecten” logo and red “Shell” script against a red background with a rippled relief pattern. Weathering consistent with age is shown in the gallery.

Pre-drilled mounting holes are integrated into the metal enclosure. A power cord is not installed.
