This 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible was purchased by the current owner in 1997, and work circa 2000 included installing a 409ci V8, a 700R4 automatic transmission, and four-wheel disc brakes, along with a repaint in metallic maroon. It is also equipped with a PosiTraction rear axle, power steering, a dual exhaust system, engine-turned body and cabin trim, twin antennas, a power-operated black soft top, and chrome Cragar S/S wheels. Cabin appointments consist of black vinyl front bucket seats, a center console, aftermarket gauges, an AM/FM radio, and a tachometer. This Impala SS convertible is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a clean Washington state title in the owner’s name.

The body is finished in metallic maroon with a power-operated black soft top and vinyl boot cover, and it is said to have been repainted around 2000. Styling details include twin antennas, engine-turned bodyside trim, dual triplet taillights, Impala SS badging, and a recessed tail panel. Chrome 15″ Cragar S/S wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. SS examples were fitted with a heavy-duty suspension that included revised front and rear coil springs and shock absorbers, and the car has been retrofitted with KYB front shocks and rear spring inserts. This example is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs. The emergency brake is inoperative.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in black vinyl, and engine-turned trim accents the dashboard and center console. Appointments include vent windows, manual-crank windows, an AM/FM radio, and kick-panel speakers. Corrosion is noted on the trunk floor.

The two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a column-mounted tachometer as well as a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel level gauge. Aftermarket readouts for coolant temperature and oil pressure are fitted to the center console. The five-digit odometer shows 95k miles, approximately 20k of which were added under current ownership.

The 409ci V8 was installed circa 2000, according to the seller, and it is outfitted with a finned air cleaner and valve covers. Records included in the gallery below indicate the engine received machine work, a valve job, and an overhaul in 2000 and 2001. JE pistons, heavy-duty wrist pins, a Cloyes roller timing set, and ARP rod bolts were utilized during the overhaul. The seller notes that the engine stamp pad has been machined.
