This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500KR convertible is one of 518 examples produced for the model year, of which 267 were specified with a 428ci Cobra Jet V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Finished in Acapulco Blue over black Luxury vinyl upholstery, the car underwent a seven-year restoration completed around 2021 by Orlando Mustang of Osteen, Florida. Factory equipment includes a power-operated black soft top, a roll bar, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and the Interior Décor, Visibility, and GT Equipment groups. The selling dealer acquired the car in 2026. This GT500KR is now offered in Anaheim, California, with a Deluxe Marti Report, binders with the restoration information, and a Florida title.

The GT500KR was introduced midway through the 1968 model year as the highest-performance Shelby Mustang and featured a fiberglass hood with a functional scoop, grille-mounted Lucas driving lamps, quarter-panel scoops, a rear spoiler, and sequential taillights. This example is finished in Acapulco Blue with a powered black top and underwent a seven-year restoration beginning around 2014 and completed in approximately 2021, including a repaint in its factory color.

Shelby 10-spoke 15″ aluminum wheels with Cobra center caps are mounted with E70-15 Goodyear tires. The GT500KR was factory equipped with heavy-duty suspension components, and power steering and and power-assisted front disc brakes were specified from the factory.

The cabin features front bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl along with matching door panels. The Interior Décor Group adds simulated woodgrain trim to the dashboard, center console, and door panels, while the Visibility Group provides illumination for the glovebox, trunk, and under-dash courtesy lights. Factory shoulder harnesses, a Tilt-Away steering column, an AM radio, and a roll bar are also equipped.

The woodgrain steering wheel fronts a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Stewart-Warner ammeter and oil pressure gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 79k miles.

The 428ci Cobra Jet V8 was factory equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 335 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. The seller notes that the restoration included refinishing the engine compartment.
