This 1967 Jeep CJ-5 was purchased new by the seller’s uncle from Baker Motors of San Francisco, and it was kept with him in California until 1984, when he relocated the truck to northern coastal Oregon. The seller inherited the vehicle in 2019 and moved it to Los Angeles, and a subsequent refurbishment was completed in 2022 at a cost of more than $30k. Work involved repainting the body, reupholstering the seats, adapting front disc brakes, and overhauling the electrical, ignition, fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems. Power is supplied by a 225ci Dauntless V6 linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a custom aluminum dashboard, Stewart-Warner gauges, a Bestop removable soft top and doors, lap belts, a roll bar, and a Kenwood stereo as well as skid plates, 15″ steel wheels, auxiliary lighting, a pintle hitch, aftermarket bumpers, and a tow bar. This modified CJ-5 is now offered at no reserve with a window sticker, historical images of the Jeep, records from current and prior ownership, a seller-provided list of refurbishment work, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

A Kodak carousel of vintage slides of the vehicle is included in the sale, and more than a dozen of those images are presented in the gallery below along with photos captured during a 1974 refurbishment.

The vehicle was disassembled, stripped, and repainted in white during the aforementioned refurbishment. The windshield frame, glass, and frame-to-cowl weather seals were replaced along with the hood welt, hood stops, hood locks, A-pillar rails, and door hinges. A tow bar and fog lights are integrated with the aftermarket front bumper, which holds a winch, although the seller does not know if the PTO-driven winch is operable. Whip-style antennas are fitted to ball mounts and can be cradled in A-pillar guides. The A-pillar-mounted spotlight shares a circuit and fuse with the turn signals, and the seller notes that the fuse blows when the spotlight is switched on.

Equipment includes a diamond-plate rear bumper, a pintle hitch, auxiliary taillights, a rectangular reverse light, a dropdown tailgate, black wheel-arch flares, external grab handles, side mirrors, and V6 emblems. The seller notes rust at the seam where the cowl meets the windshield, near a rubber mount in the center of the hood, around the passenger-side front fender, near the gas cap, and along a seam on the tailgate.

A tan Bestop removable soft top and doors are fitted, and its frame and the bed rails were replaced during the refurbishment.

White-painted 15″ replacement steel wheels are wrapped in 235/75 General Grabber A/TX tires, and a matching spare is hung on the tailgate. The braking system was updated under current ownership with the adaptation of front discs and a dual master cylinder. The rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders, steel brake lines, wheel studs, and shocks also were replaced. The brake master cylinder and adjustable proportioning valve were replaced in August 2026, and the fluid was flushed.

The front bucket and rear bench seats were retrimmed in black vinyl during the refurbishment. Appointments include a black roll bar, front and rear lap belts, a heater, interior grab handles, a Bluetooth-compatible Kenwood stereo, aftermarket speakers, a digital clock, and USB and 12-volt power outlets. The shifter handle has been reshaped for improved clearance, and the heater’s blower motor was repaired. A reconditioned metal storage box is positioned between the front seats.

The seller’s uncle crafted the custom aluminum dashboard in the 1970s, and it was stripped and repainted under current ownership. The wiring behind the dashboard burned through in an electrical fire under previous ownership, so the seller had the system redone from scratch, with a replacement wiring harness, fusebox, wiring, and connections. The switches for the ignition, headlights, and windshield wipers have been updated to match the existing bezels, and under-dash lighting has been installed.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts an array of Stewart-Warner instrumentation that consists of an 80-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, amperage, voltage, air pressure, and water temperature as well as the oil temperatures for the engine, transmission, and transfer case. A Temp-O-Gauge measures airstream and ambient temperatures. The six-digit odometer shows 51k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown. The seller notes that several gauges are inoperative or send false signals. Scratches and wear marks are evident on the interior painted surfaces.

An IBM 84 Sorter punched-card-sorter machine is located at the right side of the dashboard. A red warning placard from the U.S. Bureau of Mines warns against operating a tachyon projector near fused explosives.

The 225ci Dauntless V6 was factory rated at 160 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. The carburetor was rebuilt during the refurbishment, the radiator was recored, and the following components were replaced:

• Timing chain, gears, cover gasket, and damper
• Spark plugs and wires
• Distributor cap and rotor
• Points and condenser
• Alternator
• Ignition coil
• Battery and battery cables
• Water pump
• Coolant hoses
• Heater-hose fittings
• Thermostat
• Steel fuel tank
• Six-hole sending unit
• Chrome gas cap
• Fuel lines
• Fuel pump
• Exhaust system (muffler, Y-pipe, tailpipe, and hangers)

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a heavy-duty four-speed manual transmission that was installed by the seller’s uncle during the 1970s, and skid plates also were added at that time. The seller notes that the drivetrain’s overall gearing means that highway speeds are not possible, and 45 mph is a comfortable speed to travel in top gear.
