This 1959 Edsel Corsair is one of 1,343 convertible examples produced for the model year and was purchased by the seller’s late father in 1971. It is finished in Snow White over black and red vinyl and is powered by a 361ci V8 linked with a three-speed Dual-Power automatic transmission. Equipment includes a retracted white convertible top, 14″ steel wheels with covers, a cassette stereo, and a heater. This Corsair is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Snow White (E), and the seller notes that the driver’s door was damaged, replaced, and repainted at some point over the years. Exterior details include a replacement white convertible top, quad headlights, a driver-side spotlight, dual side mirrors, and chrome bumpers and trim. The convertible top motor does not work, and the top has not been raised since it was replaced in 1990.

The 14″ steel wheels feature covers and are mounted with Coker Classic wide-whitewall tires. Braking is provided by unassisted drums at each corner. Wheel cylinders were replaced in 2021, and the brake system was bled at that time.

The cabin houses front and rear bench seats upholstered in black and red vinyl. Interior equipment includes front and rear passenger seatbelts, red carpets, a Kenwood cassette stereo, and a heater. The driver’s door panel is damaged, and the clock does not work.

The steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 66k miles, and approximately 85k were added under current ownership. The temperature gauge sending unit was replaced in 2022.

The 361ci V8 was factory equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 303 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. The piston rings and valves were replaced under current ownership. The rear freeze plug is leaking.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed Dual-Power automatic transmission.

I am selling my late father’s pride and joy: his 1959 Edsel Corsair convertible that he drove once a week from 1971 when he bought it until his death in 2020. This car has never been out of commission or broken. My father was a classic car collector who had the skills to keep all his cars running and period correct as he didn’t restore but rather preserved his classics. My dad had his own Edsel junkyard so this specimen has all period correct parts. My family has sold 8 of his beloved Edsels when he passed but wanted to keep this one as it was his first and favorite. But the time has come to find someone who will love this car as much as my dad. I have included a news article with this car in 1977 with my whole family in it. I’m Charlie the 11 year old kid in the picture and I am 61 now. This car has been on the road ever since I was a child. This vehicle has 166,000 miles and over the years he has performed a “ring and valve job” that has kept the compression tight.
