Pavlovic rejected Manchester City move despite €100m interest

Aleksandar Pavlović rejected a summer move to Manchester City despite the Premier League club being prepared to pay up to €100 million, according to Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg and Luca Sixtus.

City began pursuing the Bayern Munich midfielder in March, with sporting director Hugo Viana driving its interest. Discussions became more concrete after the World Cup, and Bayern was aware of the English club’s interest.

Pavlović chose to remain in Munich, where he is regarded as an important part of Bayern’s long-term midfield plans. The 22-year-old is under contract until June 2029.

Sky reports that Pavlović had been discussed internally before Ayyoub Bouaddi and Enzo Fernández, who both went on to join City during the summer transfer window.

Born in Munich, he joined Bayern in 2011 at the age of seven and progressed through its youth teams before making his senior debut on October 28, 2023. His first professional contract followed the next month.

Bayern then extended his deal in June 2024, securing his future through 2029. He has since passed 100 competitive first-team appearances for the club, with eight goals to his name.

His emergence has brought success at domestic level, including Bundesliga titles in 2025 and 2026. He was also part of the squad that won the DFB Cup last season, building his experience alongside Bayern’s established senior players.

His international career has developed during the same period. Pavlović made his Germany debut against Ukraine in June 2024 and, after missing that summer’s European Championship through illness, represented his country at the 2026 World Cup.

Pavlović spoke about his attachment to Bayern during the club’s summer tour in August: “The club was already in my heart when I moved to FC Bayern as a seven-year-old.” He described playing for his hometown team as a dream come true.
