- Trailblazer gains a Z71 trim with standard AWD and off-road hardware.
- Both SUVs get larger screens and more than 20 standard safety features.
- The refreshed Trax and Trailblazer reach Chevrolet dealers in spring 2027.
Chevrolet’s two most affordable vehicles are getting more equipment, bigger screens, and fewer trim levels for 2027. The Trax gets a styling refresh, while the Trailblazer picks up some useful cabin changes. Both gain a much longer list of standard driver assistance features. The biggest news, though, is a Trailblazer Z71 with actual hardware to accompany the badge.
According to Chevrolet’s announcement, the new Trailblazer Z71 comes standard with all-wheel drive, an off-road-tuned suspension, an underbody skid plate, and “sport-terrain” tires. That said, the automaker hasn’t provided any details on some pretty key metrics. We don’t know simple and basic off-roading figures like ground clearance, suspension travel, and approach angle. So this isn’t a Z71 in badge only, but don’t expect to tackle the Rubicon either.

Inside, the Z71 gets debossed front headrests and a Jet Black and Storm Sky Gray color scheme with orange accents. That gray is a new interior color for Chevrolet and will appear in both updated SUVs. The Trailblazer range will consist of an entry-level model, RS, and Z71. Its cabin also gains a column-mounted shifter. That frees up space for a redesigned center console. Retractable cupholders can make room for additional storage, and rear passengers finally get their own HVAC vents. An AutoSense power liftgate joins the options list as well.
Trax Gets A Fresh Face
The Trax lineup is similarly simplified to an entry-level model, RS, and ACTIV. Its refresh includes a new grille, redesigned wheels, all-LED taillights, and a revised liftgate. The RS gets 19-inch wheels, while ACTIV retains its own front-end treatment. Inside, hexagonal side vents reshape the dashboard’s outer edges. A power liftgate is also available for the first time. Hardly headline-grabbing stuff on its own, but useful upgrades for a vehicle sold on everyday practicality.
Bigger Screens, More Standard Equipment
Both SUVs get an upgraded electrical and software architecture, supporting more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features. Those include adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking assistance, a Safety Alert Seat, and blind-zone steering assistance. Reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic braking, side bicyclist alerts, and intersection automatic emergency braking also join the standard equipment list. These features are themselves a great reason to consider the Trax and Trailblazer.
An 11-inch digital instrument display and an 11.3-inch infotainment screen come standard, along with Google built-in featuring Gemini. Newly available OnStar One includes 12 months of services, such as Wi-Fi hotspot capability and video streaming. Granted, you’ll have to accept giving up your data to use such features.
Chevrolet says the pair has topped a quarter-million deliveries year-to-date. The refreshed models arrive in spring 2027, but this announcement leaves plenty unanswered. For example, we have no idea what pricing will be. We don’t know if there are any changes to the powertrain in either vehicle. For Chevy’s most affordable vehicles, that first missing detail matters quite a bit.
