1974 BMW R90S at No Reserve

This 1974 BMW R90S was purchased by the seller in 2024, reportedly from the estate of its original owner, and subsequent work included rebuilding the carburetors, changing the oils, adjusting the valves, painting the bodywork, and replacing the battery, spark plugs, tires, and front brake hoses. Power is from an 898cc opposed-twin linked with a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft. Equipment includes 19″ and 18″ wire-spoke wheels with alloy rims, a black two-up seat, a quarter fairing, a clear windscreen, dual front disc brakes, Dell’Orto carburetors, a chrome dual exhaust system, and both center and side stands. This R90S is now offered at no reserve with service records, spare parts, a set of Krauser panniers, a tool kit, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.

The bodywork was refinished in a black and silver gradient scheme with gold pinstripes in January 2025, and features include a black two-up seat, a clear windscreen, a quarter fairing, mirrors, folding passenger foot pegs, and both center and side stands.

The 19″ and 18″ wire-spoke wheels with alloy rims were mounted with 3.25″ front and 4.00″ rear Metzeler tires in July 2026. Suspension consists of a leading-axle telescopic fork as well as a pair of adjustable shocks mounted to the swingarm on the left and the final drive enclosure on the right. Braking is provided by dual cross-drilled front discs fitted with single-piston calipers along with a drum at the rear. The front brake hoses were replaced in August 2026.

The chrome-finished handlebar sits ahead of a hydraulic steering damper and is mounted aft of a MotoMeter 140-mph speedometer, a matching tachometer with a 7,100-rpm redline, and a column of indicator lamps as well as a voltmeter and an analog clock mounted in the fairing above. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles, 60 of which have been ridden under current ownership. The seller notes that the generator light glows dimly at idle.

The air-cooled 898cc opposed-twin features dual Dell’Orto carburetors, a chrome dual exhaust system with a crossover pipe, both electric and kick starters, twin-plug cylinder heads, and an electronic ignition module. Factory-rated output was 66 horsepower and 55 lb-ft of torque. Work from June to August 2026 inlcuded rebuilding the carburetors, adjusting the valves, changing the oil, and replacing the spark plugs, ignition wires, and battery.

Power is routed to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft. The transmission and final drive oils were changed in August 2026.

The number 4950793 stamped on the engine case matches the numbers stamped on the steering head plate and the frame, photos of which can be viewed in the gallery.

A tool kit, Krauser hard-sided panniers, the removed seat, and a luggage rack are included in the sale.
