5k-Mile 1996 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SS Convertible

This 1996 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SS convertible reportedly spent time with a single owner prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2021, and it now shows 5k miles. Power is provided by a 5.7-liter LT1 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and the Street Legal Performance (SLP) Engineering SS Alteration package added a performance exhaust system, a Torsen limited-slip differential, a rear decklid spoiler, and a composite hood with functional cold air induction. Finished in Bright Teal Metallic over Graphite leather, the car is further equipped with a black soft top, 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels, a Delco CD stereo, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, and power windows, door locks, and mirrors. This Camaro Z28 SS convertible, SLP #1193, is now offered in Michigan with a window sticker, the owner’s manual, service records, a car cover, and a clean Illinois title.

The SS package was available as an upgrade to the Z/28 model, and special equipment was installed under contract by SLP Engineering in Troy, Michigan. This car is finished in Bright Teal Metallic and has a composite hood with functional cold air induction, a rear spoiler, a black soft top, and black headlight surrounds. There are said to be three examples produced in this color and optioned with the automatic transmission.

The 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 245/50 BFGoodrich Comp T/A tires, that are said to have been installed at the factory. The car is equipped with the Performance Ride & Handling suspension. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with vented rotors.

The cabin features front bucket seats upholstered in Graphite leather. Interior amenities include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a Delco Bose CD stereo, cruise control, air conditioning, and power windows, mirrors, and door locks. Protective plastic covers the footwells.

The two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 155-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 5k miles, approximately 25 of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.7-liter LT1 V8 was modified by SLP Engineering with an optional performance exhaust system, and was factory rated at 305 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential.

The Camaro Z28 SS Alteration Package sheet lists the car’s VIN, SS equipment, and a total package price of $5,755.

The Carfax report is free of accident or damage entries.
