This 1954 Jaguar XK120 roadster was acquired by the owners in 1959 and restored between 1988 and 1990 by Bassett’s Jaguar in Wyoming, Rhode Island. It is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in Cream over Biscuit and Tan leather. Equipment includes a brown convertible top and side curtains, a split windshield, chrome bumpers, 16″ wire wheels, and dual SU carburetors. This XK120 is now offered on dealer consignment with a car cover, restoration and service records, and Connecticut registration.

The car was refinished in cream during the late 1980s, which included stripping the body, metalwork, and applying lead body solder. Exterior equipment includes a split windshield, chrome front bumpers, chrome rear bumperettes, and a polished dual exhaust outlet. A brown convertible top was fitted during the restoration but currently shows damage and requires replacement. A tonneau cover and side curtains are also included in the sale.

The 16” knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 6.00-16 Coker Classic whitewall tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums. Work during the 1980s included rebuilding the brake system and replacing the front shocks, sway bar bushings, control arm bushings, and upper and lower ball joints.

The cabin features tan leather bucket seats and lighter carpets. The interior color was changed from red during the build, and work involved replacing the floorboards and interior panels.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames rebuilt Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 89k miles, approximately 30k of which were added under current ownership.

The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six was rebuilt by Bassett’s between 1988 and 1990. Work included hot-tanking, boring, and decking the block, as well as polishing the crankshaft, reconditioning the connecting rods, and installing a reconditioned cylinder head. Additional components replaced at that time included the pistons, bearings, and timing chain. Work in 2014 by Vintage Motorcars of Westbrook, Connecticut, included rebuilding the carburetor and replacing the ignition points and condenser. The starting carburetor was rebuilt in 2017.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch disc, pressure plate, and throwout bearing were replaced during the 1988-1990 restoration. A stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in 2017.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its Connecticut registration.
