383 Stroker–Powered 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop

This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop was refurbished and modified between 2017 and 2024 and is powered by a BluePrint Engines 383ci stroker V8 linked to a TCI TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 9″ rear axle. The body was fitted with replacement sheetmetal and repainted in red by American Gasser in Michigan, and the car is also equipped with a horizontal tube grille, a one-piece front bumper, bi four-wheel disc brakes, QA1 front coilovers, 15″ American Racing wheels, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Patriot ceramic-coated exhaust headers, and a Flowmaster dual exhaust system. The cabin is appointed with Ecklers upholstery, an aftermarket tilt steering column, digital instrumentation, and a Pioneer cassette stereo. Acquired by the seller in 2017, this Bel Air is now offered with a car cover and a clean Michigan title in the names of the seller and their spouse.

Refurbishment work performed by American Gasser of Saginaw, Michigan, the installation of replacement rear quarter panels, doors, and rocker panels along with bodywork and a repainted in red. Exterior details include twin wind splits, hooded headlights, an updated chrome grille, a one-piece “California”-style chrome front bumper, dual side mirrors, a frenched rear license plate pocket with a hidden trunk release, gold-finished Bel Air fender and quarter-panel emblems, a third brake light, and a fuel filler concealed behind the left taillight. The windshield and weatherstripping were replaced during the build, and photos taken during various phases are included in the gallery below.

American Racing Torq Thrust 15″ wheels feature polished lips and wear Falken Sincera SN250 A/S tires. The front suspension features QA1 coilovers and 2″ drop spindles, and front and rear sway bars are fitted. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs with a Wilwood dual-circuit master cylinder, hydro-boost assist, and braided stainless-steel lines.

The cabin houses split-folding front and rear bench seats featuring red and black upholstery with tufted button accents, and the seller notes that furnishings from Ecklers were sourced during the refurbishment. A replacement headliner carpeting, door panels, and sound-deadening insulation were installed during the interior refresh. Appointments include a chrome tilt steering column, a column shifter, an under-seat fire extinguisher, USB ports, and a cassette stereo linked with aftermarket speakers. The car is not equipped with a parking brake, heater, or air conditioning. The seller notes that the window regulators function but should be replaced, that the steering column mounting collar requires finishing trim, and that an uninstalled dome light is included in the sale.

The battery and an electrical disconnect switch with an integrated digital voltmeter are mounted in the finished trunk compartment.

The aftermarket steering wheel fronts a digital instrument cluster blue readouts for vehicle and engine speed as well as gauges for voltage, fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer indicates 460 miles, all of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The Blueprint Engines 383ci stroker V8 was installed in 2018 and is said to utilize iron Vortec cylinder heads, roller rockers, a 9.0:1 compression ratio, and an aluminum intake manifold topped with a Holley 750-cfm four-barrel carburetor. Additional components include an electronic distributor, an inline fuel pressure gauge, a high-torque starter, replacement accessory pumps, and an aluminum radiator. Patriot ceramic-coated exhaust headers are linked with a stainless-steel Flowmaster dual exhaust system. The engine mounts were relocated 2″ forward to provide clearance for the distributor, per the seller.

The seller tells us the TH400 three-speed automatic transmission is a TCI unit that has high-performance components and a heavy-duty torque converter. The transmission is linked to a custom driveshaft with heavy-duty universal joints and a Ford 9″ rear axle with a 3.50:1 limited-slip differential.
