1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

This 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was restored under previous ownership and was purchased by the seller in 2025. Finished in white over black and gray upholstery, it is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Features include power steering, manually locking front hubs, an Old Man Emu suspension lift, Bilstein dampers, front disc brakes, 15″ steel wheels, 31″ Pro Comp tires, a removable hardtop, silver-finished bumpers, front bucket seats, inward-facing rear jump seats, a cabin heater, a locking center console, and crank windows. Work performed under current ownership included installing a secondary air injection bypass kit and replacing the rear main seal, transmission and transfer case seals, outer tie rod ends, front rotors and pads, and body mounts. This FJ40 shows 7k miles and is offered with spare and removed parts and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The body was refinished under previous ownership in white, and the body mounts were replaced in 2026. Exterior details include a removable hardtop, as well as a silver-finished front bumper, a fold-down windshield, dual side mirrors, rear ambulance-style doors, and a tubular steel rear bumper.

Chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels are mounted with  31×10.50″ Pro Comp A/T Sport tires. A matching spare is affixed to the swing-out carrier at the rear. The truck is equipped with power steering, manually locking front hubs, and an Old Man Emu suspension lift with Bilstein dampers. Three leaves from the front springs and a single leaf from the rear springs have been removed to soften the ride. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. Service under current ownership included replacing the outer tie rod ends, front brake rotors, and pads.

The front bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl and are joined by inward-facing rear jump seats with gray upholstery. Appointments include a cabin heater, a locking center console, and crank windows. The headliner has been removed.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. An auxiliary voltage gauge is mounted to the right of the factory cluster. The five-digit odometer shows 7k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six is equipped with a single carburetor. The engine was reportedly rebuilt under previous ownership, and work performed since 2025 consisted of installing a secondary air injection bypass kit and replacing the rear main seal, in addition to the carburetor adapter and gaskets.

Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The transmission input shaft seal and transfer case output shaft seal were replaced in 2025.
