1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet at No Reserve

This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE cabriolet is one of approximately 1,390 examples produced between 1968 and 1971. It was initially delivered to Carwell Corporation in California and is said to have remained in the state until it was acquired by the selling dealer on BaT in October 2024. The car is finished in Tunis Beige Metallic over Dark Brown leather, and power is from a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a brown convertible top, power steering, disc brakes, and 14″ steel wheels along with US-specification headlights and Behr air conditioning. Previously offered on BaT in June 2025, this W111 cabriolet is now offered again by the selling dealer in Florida at no reserve with the window sticker, data card, owner’s manual, service records, and clean California title.

The car left the factory finished in Tunis Beige Metallic (462) and has been repainted. It has a brown soft top and boot as well as a “low-style” grille, front vent windows, US-specification headlights, and chrome bumpers. Close-up photos of the exterior are provided in the gallery below. The photos provided were taken in mid-2025, and one mile has accrued since.

The 14″ steel wheels wear bright-finished covers with color-matched centers and are mounted with 185/75 Hankook tires. The suspension includes an independent double-wishbone front setup with coil springs along with a rear single-joint swing axle. Power-assisted steering and four-wheel disc brakes are additional features.

Dark Brown leather covers the individual front seats and rear bench. Amenities include a dashboard-mounted clock, Behr air conditioning, and center armrests. The radio and power windows do not work, and the lower air conditioning vents do not blow air.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.8-liter M130 inline-six features Bosch mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 160 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.

The window sticker shows initial delivery to Carwell Corporation in Hermosa Beach, California, and lists factory equipment, colors, and a total suggested retail price of $12,841.
