1978 Mercedes-Benz 300CD at No Reserve

This 1978 Mercedes-Benz 300CD is said to have remained with its previous owners for over 40 years and shows 43k miles on the odometer. It is finished in Gray Blue over Blue MB-Tex and is powered by a 3.0-liter diesel inline-five paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a sunroof, 14″ wheels, cruise control, a Becker stereo, and power windows. This W123 300CD was acquired by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, in 2026 and is now offered at no reserve with an owner’s manual, service records, and a Texas title.

The car is finished in Gray Blue with contrasting pinstripes and has a sunroof, a driver-side mirror, a power antenna, and bright trim. Documents note that rust in the right rocker panel was repaired in 1996. The trunk lid is faded, and various areas have received touch-ups and repairs. Close-up photos of the exterior are provided in the gallery below.

The 14″ wheels feature blue covers and are mounted with Falken tires that the seller notes were recently installed. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at each corner.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in Blue MB-Tex, and interior features include cruise control, a Becker stereo, and power windows. There are cracks in the dash and driver’s door pocket.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 115-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 43k miles.

The 3.0-liter OM617 diesel inline-five was factory rated at 77 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Records indicate that the car was fitted with a replacement radiator, water pump, and accessory belts in 2024.

Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.
