“Has anyone ever received a cat from a departed one?”

Everyone deals with loss differently. The only thing that we all have in common is the pain that comes with it. There isn’t anything that we can do to make it go away, not completely. It goes away slowly, over time. And although there isn’t anything we can do to cancel it out, there are some things that we can do to lessen the pain, to distract ourselves from it. That’s where cats come in. Distracting yourself with silly cat memes and wholesome pictures of cats on the internet does not have a single downside. It can only help. But we’re talking about more than that. If you’re someone who loves cats and is going through such heartache, then adopting a cat could be the best thing you ever do for yourself. 

Adopting a cat at any point in your life is a good thing, all cat owners would argue, but I can personally say that I adopted a cat during the worst time in my life, and it was the best thing that I could have done for myself. Suddenly, there was an itty bitty ball of joy in my house, small, chaotic, purring. Someone completely dependent on me, and the only thing that someone really wanted from me was love. It’s hard not to smile at a cat. It’s that simple. They really do change things. Cats bring so much peace into your life. And your loved ones know that too. They know the meowgic of cats. 

That is exactly what led the person in this story to think that their late father sent them a cat. He passed suddenly, unexpectedly, and it hurt. And then a kitten appeared in his daughter’s life and started making things a little less bad for her. All of a sudden, she was smiling again. And for someone who’s going through loss, smiling, even if it’s just a little bit, changes things. She couldn’t help but think that her dad sent this kitty to her, and we can’t help but believe that she’s right.
