Boss denies employee a promotion, forces them to do the work anyway: ‘I’ve been dragged in again and again to provide fixes, guidance and steer for the new member of staff’

This employee was passed up for a work promotion, but that didn’t mean they escaped the work.

Whenever a work issue comes up online, it tends to spark a larger conversation about what employee are and are not willing to tolerate. One worker shares their experience on the job, and it inspires others to share their stories on similar topics. After all, work is something that unites most of us. You can relate to someone you have never met just by virtue of you both having to punch the clock for a living. I don’t know about you, but for me it’s always interesting to hear about other people’s jobs. We only have our own limited experience, so it’s fun to hear about the experiences of others. It might just teach us something about our own work life. Here, an employee found themselves in a typical situation. They were passed up for a promotion even though it seemed like it was laid out for them. But even after the new person was hired, they weren’t let off the hook for the work and the responsibility. It seemed like their boss wanted to have their cake and eat it too. They wanted the experience and expertise of the new hire, but the comfort and familiarity with the workplace that the old hire had. The employee felt slighted by this, and a little taken advantage of, so they reached out to the internet for help.
