Having pets when we are young is something that shapes who we are as people.
Adopting a cat for your child is not just something cute and fun. It’s something that will have an influence on their lives for the rest of their lives. Cats do not let people roll over them. They have standards. They have demands. Cats train their humans just as much as we train them. They teach us… they teach us to be patient, they teach us to be gentle, they teach us how to love without pressure, to be kind and to let people come to us when they are ready. Adopting a cat for your child means teaching them all of this when they are very young. And that makes a difference.
Of course, adopting a cat also means adopting a little chaos machine. But 3 AM zoomies are something that will bond your kids with your cats even more. It seems like such a simple thing – to adopt a cat. But even I, as someone who didn’t have cats growing up, have learned so much from them once I finally took that step. I think having a cat made me a better person. And although it seems that the kids in today’s story are already pretty good kids, growing up with a cat will only make them better.
