Fall is almost here, and the cats are more than ready to dive headfirst into the season. Literally.

Cats will play with pretty much anything that moves, so a bunch of leaves blowing around the yard is obviously going to get their attention. They can chase them, pounce on them, dig through them, and hide in a pile waiting for the perfect moment to jump out. It’s basically a whole yard full of free cat toys, and they don’t even have to wait for their hooman to open the Chewy box.

We especially love the cats who completely disappear into a big pile of leaves. You’ll see a little face poking out, maybe a pair of ears, and occasionally one suspicious tail giving away exactly where they’re hiding. They look very pleased with themselves too, even though absolutely nobody is fooled.

Fall also happens to be a pretty great time for kitty pictures. Orange cats were practically made for this. Put one in a pile of orange and yellow leaves and suddenly you have to play a game of find the feline. Black cats look extra cute out there too, especially with spooky season getting closer. Add a few crunchy leaves and they’re ready for their October calendar shoot.

We just feel a little bad for whoever has to rake the yard afterward. Getting all those leaves into one big pile probably took a while, and the cat is about to undo that work in record time. Sorry, but you made a giant pile of fun right in front of them. What did you expect?

So bring on the crunchy leaves, fluffy tails sticking out of leaf piles, and kitties running around the yard like fall is one giant playground.

The rake can come back out later. The cats are busy.
