The second you put a vampire cape on your cat, his regular name stops feeling appropriate. That’s Count Meowcula now. Please show some respect while he gets his claw stuck in the rug.
A frightening reputation is difficult to maintain when someone knows where you like to be scratched. One hand under the chin and he’s purring. The spooky performance is over; neighbors are safe, and the house is safe. Count Meowcula would like you to keep doing that too. So don’t stop until the Count indicates so.
Buying your cat a costume is so funny because imagine waking up from a nap and finding a miniature devil staring at you from the foot of your bed. You start with a quiet “aww” and end up grabbing your phone to take pictures. People need to see a cat in that outfit. Whatever they’re watching can wait ten seconds.
Underneath the cape or the skeleton outfit is the same little cat who lives with you and asks you to open the door, only to then refuse to walk through it. You know all his habits. Putting bat wings on him only makes those habits funnier. And their faces! It’s hard to take a cat seriously when he’s dressed as a pumpkin. They absolutely judge us when we are taking pictures of them. Cat owners are on the other side of the camera saying things like, “Who’s my little pumpkin?” with no shame at all. We are allowed to baby-talk to our pets. And when they’re dressed like pumpkins, it’s basically a must.
So take a look at these tiny witches, vampires, skeletons, and ghosts. You could find an idea for your own cat or simply a cute pet picture that deserves another look. Go ahead and try calling Count Meowcula a scary boy. I bet it comes out sounding like baby talk.
