The friendship is over; that seems clear. Being uninvited from your childhood best friend’s wedding is enough reason to consider it a fact.
This woman posted on the AITA subreddit that she found out she was considered a potential source of drama despite never interfering in their relationship. After being disinvited, her parents, who were about to give them the wedding catering as a gift, decided they no longer wanted to provide the food for free. This was also a source of dispute. The couple accused her of ruining the wedding because of her parents’ decision to cancel the catering a week before the ceremony.
The friend sharing the story grew up close to the groom, and her family was very close with theirs. Both sets of parents used to tease them about becoming a couple in the past, but the truth is they never dated, although the friend did have feelings for him. Anyways, when Ryan announced his engagement, the friend accepted that a relationship between them would not happen and behaved appropriately. According to the post, she never interfered in his decision. Naturally, she would never cause drama at the wedding.
Despite the long friendship and the closeness of the families, Ryan decided to withdraw the invitation, prioritizing the bride’s feelings. After hearing what happened, the parents decided they would not attend, which is reasonable. After sharing so many years together, how could Ryan uninvite their daughter? Ryan even dared to call her ‘petty’ when actually he was the one who chose to exclude his friend and still expected her family’s contribution to continue.
